There is a famous saying that wine and food go hand in hand. However, it doesn’t necessarily mean that all types of wine are perfect for all types of food. It is worth knowing what wine will go best with your favourite foods. Read on for a list of wine and meat pairings, and take notes!
1. Shiraz and Steak
Shiraz is made of rich, ripe fruits with an added sweetness, so it makes them the perfect accompaniment to steak. The fruit flavour of a warm climate Shiraz will balance the saltiness of the meat, and add complexity to the pairing itself.
2. Rosé and Pork
Salty, flavourful grilled pork is perfectly matched with Rosé, as the acidity balances the fatty flavours and elevates the essence of the meat. The vibrant colour of the Rosé also complements the pairing.
3. Chardonnay and Chicken
Chardonnay and chicken are considered one of the best food and wine pairings in the world. Make sure you choose the right style of Chardonnay however, for a rich roast chicken, pick an oaked wine with richer, creamy character supporting the flavours; for lighter chicken meals, try a light-styled Chardonnay that will enhance the meat with the citrus character of the ingredients.
